Have you ever noticed when God shows you something or deals with you about something, how quickly you decide it's for everyone else too?
Well, God has been dealing with me about praying more for our missionaries and putting my money where my mouth is. Now if it really was just for me, please humor me and read this short post.
When missionaries have come here in the past, Elizabeth and I prayed and agreed together on an amount to give them when we could. We felt good. The missionary felt good. Everything was good. The problem was that in a few days or weeks we mentally moved on to other missionaries, activities, challenges and duties. We love these men and women of God, but I have not been as consistent in my prayers for them as needed.
A monthly gift, no matter how small, will not only help our missionaries financially, but has a wonderful side effect. We westerners tend to pray more for what we support. Every time we see an online statement, a bank statement or a check register with the ministry we support, we pause and pray. That prayer for protection, strength or guidance may have been just what was needed in that moment. Our prayer support is far more important in the Kingdom than our financial. God already has all the resources. Even though much of our daily activity is tied to money, I believe God can use this as a benefit.
If you do not financially support indigenous missions, please prayerfully consider taking on at least one at just $10 per month. You will eat the same food tomorrow, drive the same car and live in the same home. You don't even have to write a check anymore. You can visit www.aim4theworld.org and click "donate now".
We are so blessed to have disposable income here. You can't even buy popcorn at a theater for $10; but you can be a blessing as God calls you to pray.
Until the whole world hears,
